I’ll show you how you can hide or remove your HTTP Referer. When you click on an HTML link, the request is sent to the server along with the referring URL which contains the last page the user was on. This allows webmasters to identify where people are visiting them from.
If you wish to prevent this from happening, I highly recommend using Hide My Referrer. This free service will generate links that you can use that will hide / remove the HTTP Referer header.
To view the what information is being sent, visit the what is my referer page. It will show you that you came from this website. If you visit the same page using this anonymous link, your referrer is now hidden.
This can be extremely useful if you would like to stay anonymous or link to a website without exposing where the traffic is coming from.
UPDATE: The website is no longer in service.
